1. Before You Begin
Proper preparation is the key to a successful installation. Please read through these guidelines before starting your installation project.
Important Before Starting:
- Turn Off Water Supply: Always shut off the main water supply before beginning any installation. Locate your shut-off valve and turn it clockwise.
- Drain the System: Open the lowest faucet in your home to release pressure and drain remaining water.
- Clear the Area: Ensure you have adequate workspace. Remove items from under sinks and have towels ready to catch water.
- Gather Tools: Have all required tools assembled before beginning (see section 2).
- Read All Instructions: Review all documentation and watch any included videos before starting.
- Take Your Time: Rushing can lead to mistakes. Plan to spend 1-3 hours on most installations.
Pro Tip
Take photos before disassembly. This helps you remember how connections were arranged and makes reassembly easier if needed.
2. Tools & Materials Required
Having the right tools makes installation easier and reduces the risk of damage to your new AquaArts products.
Essential Tools:
For tightening and loosening nuts and fittings
For driving nails and light tapping
Slip-joint or tongue-and-groove pliers
Both Phillips and flat-head types
To ensure fixtures are properly aligned
For accurate measurements and spacing
To catch water during disconnection
For cleanup and drying surfaces
Recommended Materials:
- Thread Seal Tape (PTFE Tape): For sealing threaded connections and preventing leaks
- Plumber’s Putty or Silicone Caulk: For creating watertight seals
- Pipe Dope/Grease: Lubricant for easier assembly
- Teflon Tape: For securing pipe threads
- Washers & Gaskets: Often included but have spares on hand
⚠️ Warning
Never use tools that might scratch or damage the finish. Use rubber or plastic-coated tools when possible.
3. Bathroom Faucets Installation
Most bathroom faucets can be installed in 30-45 minutes. Follow these step-by-step instructions.
Installation Steps:
Prepare the Workspace
Turn off the water supply and drain the system. Place a bucket under the old faucet to catch water. Use towels to protect your sink and countertop.
Disconnect Old Faucet
Using adjustable wrench, disconnect supply lines by turning counterclockwise. Remove mounting nuts underneath the sink. Carefully lift out the old faucet and remove any remaining caulk with a putty knife.
Clean the Sink Deck
Thoroughly clean the area where the new faucet will sit. Remove all old caulk, mineral deposits, and debris. A clean surface ensures a proper seal and better appearance.
Install Mounting Hardware
Apply plumber’s putty around the faucet base (or use included gaskets). Insert the faucet through the holes in your sink. From underneath, hand-tighten the mounting nuts. Use wrench for final tightening – snug but not over-tight.
Connect Supply Lines
Wrap thread seal tape around supply line threads (3-4 wraps clockwise). Connect hot and cold water supply lines, hand-tightening first, then using wrench for final tightening. Turn on water supply slowly to check for leaks.
Test and Adjust
Turn on water supply and test both hot and cold. Check all connections for leaks. If leaking, turn off water and tighten connections. Remove aerator screen and rinse to remove any debris from lines.
Final Cleanup
Wipe away excess putty. Apply caulk around the base for a professional appearance and to prevent water seepage. Let caulk cure for 24 hours before heavy use.
Tip: Preventing Leaks
Always wrap thread seal tape clockwise around male threads. Use 3-4 wraps for most connections. This is one of the most important steps for preventing leaks.
4. Bathroom Vanities Installation
Installing a bathroom vanity takes 2-4 hours depending on complexity. Professional installation is recommended for large or custom pieces.
Pre-Installation Checklist:
- Measure the space carefully and verify vanity dimensions match your space
- Check that wall is level and plumb (vertical)
- Locate wall studs for proper mounting support
- Ensure plumbing rough-in holes align with vanity drain location
- Have adequate clearance for cabinet doors and drawers
- Turn off and drain water supply before beginning
Installation Steps:
Remove Old Vanity
Disconnect supply lines and drain connections. Remove mounting hardware holding vanity to wall. Carefully pull vanity away from wall. Use a dolly or get help – vanities are heavy.
Prepare the Wall
Remove old caulk and any debris from the wall. Repair any wall damage or uneven surfaces. The wall should be smooth and level for proper vanity placement.
Position the Vanity
Use a level to ensure vanity is perfectly level (front to back) and plumb (left to right). Make adjustments using shims if needed. Mark mounting holes on the wall with a pencil.
Mount to Wall
Drill mounting holes into wall studs. Use mounting brackets and lag bolts (provided). Ensure vanity is secure and level before moving to next step.
Connect Plumbing
Connect drain trap to vanity drain opening. Connect hot and cold water supply lines to faucet inlets. Hand-tighten all connections, then use appropriate tools for final tightening.
Test for Leaks
Turn on water supply slowly. Check all connections under the vanity for leaks. Run water in the sink and check the trap. If any leaks appear, turn off water and re-tighten connections.
Seal and Finish
Apply caulk around the back and sides where vanity meets the wall. This prevents water from seeping behind the vanity. Allow caulk to cure for 24 hours before heavy use.
Important
Vanities MUST be mounted to wall studs for safety and stability. Do not rely on wall anchors alone. An unsecured vanity can fall, causing serious injury or property damage.
5. Kitchen Faucets Installation
Kitchen faucets are similar to bathroom faucets but often have additional features. Installation typically takes 30-60 minutes.
Key Differences from Bathroom Faucets:
- Often include sprayer or pull-down functionality
- May have separate mounting plate
- Usually have longer spout for filling pots
- May include hot water dispenser or additional connections
Basic Installation (Same as Bathroom Faucets with these additions):
For Sprayer Models:
Install Main Faucet
Follow steps 1-5 from bathroom faucet installation for the main faucet body.
Connect Sprayer Hose
Connect the sprayer hose to the designated outlet on the faucet body. Hand-tighten, then use wrench for snug fit – do not over-tighten.
Route Hose Properly
Route the sprayer hose under the sink, avoiding sharp edges and hot pipes. Secure with cable clips if provided. Ensure hose has slack for sprayer movement.
Attach Sprayer Handle
Attach the sprayer handle to the hose end with the collar nut. Hand-tighten only – over-tightening can crack the connector.
Test Functionality
Test both regular faucet flow and sprayer function. Spray into sink to verify proper operation. Check for any leaks at hose connections.
Tip: Sprayer Maintenance
Regularly check sprayer hose connections for tightness. Mineral buildup can clog the sprayer – soak the head in white vinegar to restore function.
6. Freestanding Tubs Installation
Freestanding tubs offer a luxurious centerpiece but require careful installation. This is a more complex project – professional installation is highly recommended.
Important Before Starting:
- Verify floor can support tub weight (typically 100-400+ lbs when full)
- Ensure floor is level and properly prepared
- Have plumbing rough-in completed before tub delivery
- Check that doorways and hallways are wide enough for tub delivery
- Plan for at least 2-3 people to safely move and position the tub
Installation Overview:
Step 1: Delivery & Positioning
When your tub arrives, inspect it immediately for any damage. Carefully position it in the bathroom using a dolly. Do not drag or drop the tub. Take time to position it exactly where it will stay – moving it after installation is very difficult.
Step 2: Level the Tub
Use a level to check both front-to-back and left-to-right. Adjust feet (if equipped) or use shims under the tub base. The tub must be level for proper drainage and to prevent water from pooling.
Step 3: Connect Drain
Connect the drain assembly according to manufacturer instructions. Apply plumber’s putty around drain opening. Most tubs use a standard 1.5″ drain. Ensure drain is properly sealed to prevent leaks.
Step 4: Connect Fill Spout (if applicable)
If your tub has a wall-mounted fill spout, connect the supply line to the spout valve. Use thread seal tape on all threaded connections.
Step 5: Install Faucet (if applicable)
If faucet mounts on the tub deck, follow bathroom faucet installation instructions. Use non-abrasive silicone caulk around faucet base.
Step 6: Test Drain
Fill the tub partway and test drain operation. Check that water drains completely and doesn’t pool at edges. Verify no leaks under the tub.
Step 7: Seal & Protect
Apply caulk around the tub’s perimeter where it meets the floor. Use caulk rated for tub application. Allow to cure for 24-48 hours before using tub.
Professional Installation Recommended
Due to the weight, complexity, and potential for water damage, professional installation is strongly recommended for freestanding tubs. Improper installation can result in structural damage or water leaks.
7. Common Issues & Troubleshooting
If you encounter problems during or after installation, try these solutions.
Leaking at Connection Points
Problem: Water drips from nuts/connections
- Solution 1: Tighten the connection using an adjustable wrench. Turn 1/4 to 1/2 turn clockwise
- Solution 2: If still leaking, turn off water and disconnect the connection
- Solution 3: Wrap 3-4 more layers of thread seal tape around the male threads
- Solution 4: Reconnect and test again. Do not over-tighten
Low Water Pressure
Problem: Water flows weakly from faucet
- Possible Cause: Debris in aerator screen or supply line
- Solution: Remove aerator (unscrew from faucet tip). Rinse thoroughly and reinstall
- If still low: Check if the shutoff valve is fully open (turn counterclockwise)
Water Won’t Shut Off
Problem: Faucet continues to drip after handle is closed
- Possible Cause: Internal valve issue or debris trapped in valve
- Solution 1: Try turning handle firmly in the OFF position
- Solution 2: If no improvement, contact AquaArts customer service
- Note: Do not force the handle – this can cause internal damage
Caulk Won’t Adhere
Problem: New caulk peels away from surface
- Possible Cause: Surface not properly cleaned or dried
- Solution: Remove old caulk completely with a caulk remover tool
- Clean: Use vinegar or alcohol to clean surface thoroughly
- Dry: Allow surface to dry completely (24 hours if wet)
- Reapply: Apply new caulk using a caulk gun
Water Pooling Around Base
Problem: Water collects around fixture base instead of draining
- Possible Cause: Incomplete caulking or surface not sealed
- Solution: Apply waterproof caulk along all edges where water is pooling
- Prevention: Always apply caulk completely around fixture base

8. Safety Guidelines
Your safety is our priority. Always follow these guidelines during installation.
Water Safety
- Always turn off the main water supply before beginning any installation
- Always drain the system by opening the lowest faucet
- Verify the water is off before disconnecting any lines
- Know where your main water shutoff valve is located
Tool Safety
- Use tools correctly and for their intended purpose only
- Ensure tools are in good condition before use
- Wear safety glasses when using power tools
- Keep hands and long hair away from moving tool parts
- Never leave tools unattended while in use
Chemical Safety
- Use products in well-ventilated areas
- Wear gloves when handling chemicals (caulk, putty, sealers)
- Avoid skin contact and inhalation of fumes
- Keep products away from children and pets
- Read all product labels before use
Physical Safety
- Get help when moving heavy items – don’t lift alone
- Use proper lifting techniques (bend knees, not back)
- Keep your work area clean and free of tripping hazards
- Use a sturdy step ladder for high work, never overreach
- Don’t work alone on complex or heavy installations
Electrical Safety
If your project involves electrical work (pumps, heated fixtures, etc.), turn off power at the breaker. Never work on electrical components while wet. If unsure, hire a licensed electrician.
9. Post-Installation Care
After installation is complete, follow these guidelines to ensure longevity of your products.
First 24-48 Hours
- Allow Caulk to Cure: Do not use fixture for 24 hours after applying caulk. Some caulks require up to 48 hours
- Minimal Use: When first using the fixture, use gently to ensure all seals are set
- Check for Leaks: Monitor for any leaks during initial use
- Clean Residue: Wipe away any excess caulk or putty while still soft
Regular Maintenance
- Daily: Wipe fixtures dry after use to prevent mineral buildup
- Weekly: Clean with mild soap and water using soft cloth
- Monthly: Check for any leaks or loose connections
- Quarterly: Clean aerator screen to maintain water pressure
Long-Term Care
- Use only non-abrasive cleaners – avoid harsh chemicals
- Do not use vinegar on certain finishes – check product care guide
- Inspect hoses and connections annually for signs of wear
- Address any leaks immediately to prevent water damage
- Keep aerators clean for optimal water pressure
